Come and experience a Norse Craft village and explore early medieval woodworking and metal crafts. On this two day event you'll be able to see a full-scale Iron Age Roundhouse, as well as getting some lessons in blacksmithing! Get up close to some authentically dressed Norsemen and experience the action and drama of a viking combat. Learn how blades were made for ancient tools. Find out how woad was used to dye fabrics and how wood ash was used in soap. You'll also have a chance to hear archaeologists explain the techniques of dendrochronology - the dating of trees ages by counting the number of rings in its stump.

Fancy rolling up your sleeves and helping to make a traditional pole lathe with the woodworkers? Join in the pole lathe workshop on Saturaday. On Sunday you have a fun chance to make simple wooden object to take home using the pole lathes from the previous day.
