Whistle While You Work: Music of Maritime Life
Music has long been central to life at sea. Song were sung at sea to help with work and reflect on life back home, while back on dry land songs were used to share stories and sterotypes about sailors.
Whistle While You Work: Music of Maritime Life brings one of the oldest warships in Britain to life through song. Visitors to the exhibition will hear the echoes of the words and tunes of times gone by as they explore HMS Unicorn.
The exhibition dives into lyrics and written records to try and tell the stories of the songs.
