Iron Age Torc Hunt: Treasure Hunt Activity

| Timespan | Helmsdale
10:00AM - 5:00PM

It's torc hunting season! Visit Timespan for a treasure hunt amongst the mannequins, reconstructions and museum objects for gold torcs - a neck adornment which displayed your status. Learn about the vats of gold found in Kildonan and find out about the techniques used to turn gold nuggets into torcs. There will be prizes for finding the torcs!

Part of the 'Voices from the Roundhouse: Sounds of the Souterrain' weekend of events, exploring the acoustics and sounds of archaeological sites and interpreting them through creative voice narratives and objects from the museum's collection. The events will be led by an archaeologist, sound artist and storyteller, who will explore the sights and sounds of Iron Age roundhouses and underground passages and inspire participants with stories and creative making sessions.
